Getting dressed today was difficult.  I had a whole bunch of outfits on but they made me look like such a hipster.

I had a difficult time picking out an outfit today so I just settled for looking like I am on a boat.  It works for me.

Interesting day ahead.  Today is my boss’s last day at Madewell — she just got a job at corporate Sperry, so in honor of her I had to make sure I was wearing Sperrys today.

After work, I may be going out with my College Roomie (henceforth known as CR) and her boyfriend (CRBF).  We went out last night for dinner/drinks and decided we needed to find a place to go do karaoke.  We were coming from opposite directions for dinner, CR+BF drove from CRBF’s apartment, and I drove from mine.  CRBF drove all of us to the karaoke place and we left my car where it was parked.  The evening was the greatest time — since CR and I are both singers, we tore it up and it was awesome.  We decided to come back soon.

At one point, CR asks, “How would you feel about being set-up with somebody who is…kind of cute, but a REALLY nice guy?” I have been waiting for the moment that they would try to set me up with one of CRBF’s friends — the three of us go out and hang out together a lot so it was inevitable.  As I AM the Rolodex I must take any dating opportunity I get, if for nothing else then an experience and something to tell you all about.

I said I was open to it, but I also asked to see a picture.  CRBF showed me a picture on his phone — nothing special…..but hey.  Like I said.  I am open to new experiences.  So that may be in the cards for later tonight.

Strange though — after karaoke, I was supposed to drive CR back to her apartment in the city (not far from mine) but we needed to get her purse from CRBF’s apartment.  So we went back, and dicked around for a few minutes upstairs in his room.  I go downstairs a minute before we leave and notice a paperback copy of Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone on the kitchen table.  Naturally, I pick it up and start to read.  When CRBF comes downstairs, ready to leave, I start to read it aloud to him: “Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.  They were the last people you’d expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn’t hold with such nonsense.”  He stands close right behind me, reading over my shoulder, our bodies touching.  I swear I thought he was going to kiss me.

Then suddenly, he interrupts me and says, “You were good tonight,” and walks out the front door to his car.  Then CR comes downstairs and sees me reading, “Oh, that has been there since he moved in!”

In other news, I KILLED karaoke.  I sang “I Feel Lucky” (Mary Chapin Carpenter), “Take Me Or Leave Me” (from RENT, with Elena), “Africa” (Toto, with Elena, Carter, and this guy Emilio that is awesome and a voice teacher and a regular at that particular bar), and probably the best number of the night that ANYONE there did, “Fallin’” (Alicia Keys).

Anyway, tonight should be interesting.  I will meet CRBF’s friend K, most likely.  I tend not to be attracted to a person if they are “nice” (a downfall) but we shall see.  I will keep updated with any tension between CRBF, as well.  Maybe I have been imagining it but he takes an intimate interest in me.
